Join the Cultural Enrichment Center and Music & Literature for readings from two of Canada's leading artists: poet Sylvia Legris and novelist Guy Vanderhaeghe. Sylvia Legris, featured artist in the latest issue of the international arts publication Music & Literature, is an artist of constant evolution and experimentation whose work has earned her prominent status among English-language poets of her generation. Her poems have appeared in the New Yorker, Conjunctions, Granta, and many other publications, and her third collection of poetry, Nerve Squall, won the prestigious Griffin Poetry Prize--the highest honor in Canadian poetics. For several years, Legris also served as Editor at the leading literary journal Grain.
Her partner, Guy Vanderhaeghe, is best known for his trilogy of novels, The Englishman's Boy, The Last Crossing, and A Good Man. Vanderhaeghe has won three Canadian Governor General's Awards for his fiction, one for his short story collection Man Descending, the second for The Englishman's Boy, and, most recently, for his short story collection Daddy Lenin and Other Stories. A time for discussion and audience Q&A will follow the readings.
