The ARCS-V model has been demonstrated to improve student engagement through mass communications. This technique is scalable and can be used in a variety of disciplines. In this session, we will examine the various aspects of the ARCS-V model and develop ways to apply it in your web-enhanced, hybrid, and/or online courses. Room A-629.

Hear Dr. Harry Boyte speak about the importance of strengthening higher education as a public good (and other issues related to his new book – see description below). This exciting opportunity is part of the “civic pathway” initiative that UHD Center for Public Deliberation has been working to forge with Lone Star College.

Classroom Assessment Techniques (CATs) can give you immediate feedback about student learning. The general idea is this: get feedback about the class and student learning during the semester, while you can still do something about it! In this session, we’ll explore the steps for implementing CATs, discuss faculty concerns, and talk about a few specific techniques. Room A-632.
