Following the Spring 2016 Freshman Seminar Faculty Convocation, whose theme was motivation in teaching and learning, the Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence invites all faculty to join us to view these 20-minute Magna Pubs 20-Minute Mentor Videos. Each 20-minute video viewing will be followed by a 40-minute discussion on the topic at hand. Refreshments will be served. These will all take place in the CTLE (A-724, just inside the TTLC). Certificates of attendance and supplemental materials will be provided. Register today, and continue the discussion!



How Can I Capture Students’ Interest in the First 5 Minutes?



We show you how to make the most of that first meeting with your students. Teaching and learning depend on building and sustaining student interest and strong course openings get it all started. You learn to draft your own “enthusiasm statement” to use in your own courses to draw students into the subject matter.

This is a campus-wide collaboration with representatives from every college and all disciplines at UHD.

In addition to showcasing outstanding UHD student research and intensive projects, numerous representatives from academia and industry are expected to attend. This provides an excellent opportunity for student to network and possibly be recruited.
